Dr. Alla Malko was one of the first acupuncturists to be licensed in the State of New Jersey.
Following in her father’s footsteps, Dr. Malko attended the Moscow Institute of Energy where she obtained a Master Degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduation, Dr. Malko began her career at the Institute of Nuclear Research of Science Academy in Moscow, Russia. It was during this time that Dr. Malko suffered frequent headaches, for which she sought acupuncture as a treatment. This was her first exposure to acupuncture. Amazing cure of her headache fueled her curiosity about the mechanism of acupuncture. She began studying acupuncture meridians from an electromagnetic perspective and a few years later, she was embarking on a second career, this time in
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Homeopathy.
In the coming years Dr. Malko dedicated herself to the research and application of natural and non-invasive methods of healing. In the United State Dr. Malko investigated the use of acupuncture in detoxification of chemical substance abuse at the Clinic of Acupuncture of the Family Care Center of Jersey City Hospital. Later, she participated in a State Project at the Primary Care Center of East Orange, New Jersey. The Project was dedicated to the use of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of patients infected with HIV.
Dr. Malko is a pioneer in the field of Integrative Medicine, starting her acupuncture career in 1998 as the Clinical Acupuncturist at the Integrative Medicine Department at the Ambulatory Care Center of Saint Barnabas Health Care System in Livingston, New Jersey. During this time Dr. Malko also taught for fourteen years at the Eastern School of Acupuncture and Traditional Medicine in Montclair, New Jersey, and was a visiting lecturer at the Institute for Complementary and Alternative Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
Dr. Malko’s research continued with her PhD studies where she combined her engineering background with acupuncture for her dissertation entitled: “The Human Body as a Dynamic Electromagnetic System and its Balancing with Acupuncture”. These case studies were presented at the WFAS 2010 International Acupuncture Symposium in San Francisco, California, and were selected as distinguished papers of the conference. In addition, Dr. Malko has been a lecturer in the USA, Russia and the Dominican Republic. She continued her post graduate studies of TCM and Homeopathy in Korea, China, Japan, Belarus, Russia and the USA.
In her clinical practice Dr. Malko is dedicated to treating complicated cases that have had no success with traditional Western medicine, working with both acute and chronic pain, digestive and respiratory problems, neurological conditions, infertility and reproductive assistance (IUI, IVF), stress reduction and detoxification.
